Qld: Beattie playing games with power users: Opposition

The Queensland opposition has accused the BEATTIE government of leaking an Energex
document to start a debate about power costs.

Deputy Opposition leader JEFF SEENEY says the internal Energex document canvasses reasons
to increase power prices.

Mr SEENEY says the leak is part of a process to soften up the Queensland public for
inevitable rises in electricity tariffs.

Premier PETER BEATTIE has ruled out increasing prices by any more than the CPI rate.

Energex has declined to comment, saying the matter is one for the government.
